Before you choose a Greek Extended font

This is the polytonic Greek used for ancient, Koine and Byzantine texts: three breathings, three accents, the iota subscript and every combination of them on every vowel. A font can set modern Greek perfectly and have none of it.

The test is a combination rather than a letter. Type ᾧ, ᾅ, ῇ or ῷ into the specimen: if any of them falls back to another font, or the marks sit at the wrong height above the letter, the family is not one to set a classical text in.

Line height matters more here than in any other Latin-adjacent script. Stacked breathings and accents reach well above the cap height, and a leading chosen for English will clip them.
