Free fonts with Cyrillic Extended support

The additional Cyrillic letters used by Ukrainian, Serbian, Macedonian and several Central Asian languages, beyond the basic Russian set.

Every font listed here was checked against its own character file, not against what its publisher claims.

Before you choose a Cyrillic Extended font

Basic Cyrillic covers Russian. Everything beyond it is here: ґ, є, і and ї for Ukrainian, ў for Belarusian, ђ, љ, њ, ћ and џ for Serbian and Macedonian, and the Turkic letters ә, ң, ү, ұ, қ and һ used in Kazakh, Tatar and Bashkir.

Two fonts can both claim Cyrillic and differ entirely here, so check the specific letters your language needs in the character map rather than the label. Serbian and Macedonian have a second requirement: their italic draws б, г, д, п and т in shapes a Russian reader would find strange, and a font that lacks those localised forms sets the language in the wrong hand.

Declaring the language in the markup is what asks for those forms. Without it a browser has no way to choose between two correct answers.
