Free fonts with Cyrillic support

The alphabet of Russian, Ukrainian, Bulgarian, Serbian and Macedonian. Far fewer free fonts cover it well than cover Latin.

Every font listed here was checked against its own character file, not against what its publisher claims.

Before you choose a Cyrillic font

Cyrillic shares a few shapes with Latin but has its own proportions, and a Cyrillic added to a Latin font as an afterthought shows it: the Д, Л and Ж look borrowed, and the lowercase б and д may follow one tradition when your readers expect another.

Basic Cyrillic covers Russian. Ukrainian, Belarusian, Serbian and Macedonian need the extended letters — ґ, є, і, ї, ў, ђ, љ, њ, ћ, џ — which is what the Cyrillic Extended list is. Check your language’s letters in the character map before committing.
