Why people look for a SF Pro alternative
SF Pro is Apple's system font and its licence permits use only in software for Apple platforms. Designing an interface that also runs on Android or the web puts you outside those terms immediately, and mocking up an iOS screen for a client presentation is a grey area nobody enjoys explaining. The shapes are also unavailable to a website: Apple does not distribute a web font.
What a SF Pro substitute has to get right
It is really two designs — a text cut and a display cut that the system swaps between by size. A single-optical-size substitute will look loose at 48px or tight at 12px, and there is no setting that fixes both.
