Comic Neue

Craig Rozynski, Hrant Papazian · 2014 · OFL-1.1

The only face tagged comic here that you could set a paragraph in. Bangers and Luckiest Guy beside it are shouting; this one is a casual sans with rounded joins and a slight bounce, drawn to be readable rather than to be loud. That was the point of it — to give people the friendliness they were reaching for without the letterforms that get a design laughed at. Three weights with italics, and no Turkish characters.

Latin and Latin Extended have no lists of their own. An alphabet gets one when enough fonts here carry it and not nearly all of them do — otherwise the page would just be the archive again.

Questions

Is Comic Neue free for commercial use?
Yes. Comic Neue is released under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, which allows commercial use with no fee and no attribution requirement. You can use it in client work, in products you sell, on the web and in print. The one thing you may not do is sell the font file on its own. The licence is inside the download.
Can I use Comic Neue in a logo?
Yes. The licence covers the font software, not the artwork you make with it, so a logo set in Comic Neue belongs to you — including if you later register it as a trademark. You do not need permission and you do not owe anything to Craig Rozynski, Hrant Papazian. What the licence stops you doing is redistributing the font file itself as a product.
How do I install Comic Neue?
Download the zip and unzip it. On a Mac, select the 6 font files inside and open them, then press Install Font. On Windows, select them, right-click and choose Install. Restart any application that was already open before it will show up.
Does Comic Neue support Turkish?
No. Comic Neue covers Latin, but not the extra characters Turkish needs — the dotless ı, the dotted İ, and ğ and ş. Turkish text set in it would come out with missing or wrong letters.
Does Comic Neue support Latin and Latin Extended?
Yes. Comic Neue covers Latin and Latin Extended, across 328 glyphs. Anything outside those alphabets is not included — the character map further up this page shows exactly what you get.
