What to look at

  • The lowercase height. Two faces at the same size can look like different sizes because one has a taller x-height. Compare the paragraph, not only the heading.
  • The width. A narrower face fits more words on a line; a wider one reads more openly. Watch where the paragraph breaks.
  • The letters that differ most. a, g, y, R and the numerals are where two similar faces part company. Type them in the box.
  • The Turkish line. A face without the full Turkish set borrows those letters from another font, and it shows.
